Nicole D. Powell

Nicole D. Powell is an awarding winning artist born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana where she currently resides. Nicole is an oil painter who paints in a traditional classical style. She is a member of the Hoosier Salon Patrons Association, Oil Painters of America, Hoosier Women Artist 2020, and Creative Renewal Arts Fellow of the Arts Council of Indianapolis. Her love of color and passion for art comes from a childhood dream. Nicole loves working with still life subject matter and controversial subjects depicting the lives of African Americans.

Transformation: The Banning of Black Voices In Literature

The Capitalist was inspired by a compelling photograph i saw at the Smithsonian’s African American History Museum. I couldn’t unsee the image. I had to paint my interpretation.
